Made in Belgium :Andy Wauman

Sometimes you can feel you have wandered upon a person with a special energy, like I recently did.  Meet Antwerp artist and poetical terrorist ANDY WAUMAN.
This amazing artist tries to inject energy from the street (and boy, does he got energy ...) into his art by using texts and objects, say words combined with visual work. His focus on ethical principles and his personal opinion about the so-called culture and media are constantly present in his work. He often uses images that have been violated, multiplied and copied by commercial media ...
You will get drawn to his art because it's unusual, offbeat and with character !

Andy says : "What fascinates me is the creative versatility of chaos. Chaos is important to spread your imagination; chaos that drives you like a bus.’ Creativity needs chaos to prosper. Chaos as the roller coaster for new ideas. The world of information flows, of the internet, but also of mass- consumption goods, is very stimulating."

Currently exposing in the lovely MX7 Gallery ( Marnixplaats 7-Antwerp) in a duo exhibition " Shadow doesn't charge" Andy Wauman-Boy and Erik Stappaerts  . Go and discover art !

Let your tears come, let them water your soul .......

Please go visit the "Waterlanders" exhibition showing 35 remarkable portraits of famous Belgians photographed by Bart Heynen. What started as an experiment for "De Standaard magazine", capturing people at a vulnerable moment when tears just began to flow, grew into this unique exhibition and a beautiful book. Even if you don't know all these people (like me), you're still curious about them because if you magnify a photo of a person crying and this in a face to face shot, creates an impact and lots of drama.

The fact that it's not the standard exhibition in a standard gallery, makes you appreciate the images even more. Love it ! (Eglantierlaan 104 -Wilrijk, wed -friday from 13 till 18 h, saturday from 12 till 18 h or by appointment),

Check out www.Bartheynen.com for his previous work.
